A Timeless Partnership
Since its inception, FLOCS has maintained a strong partnership with Southeastern University. As a leading institution for post-secondary training of teachers, Southeastern University has developed the programs that meet FLOCS teachers' needs for scheduling as well as cost. Seriously consider how Southeastern University can accommodate your professional training requirements for teacher certification and professional development.Building the Foundation
Southeastern's elementary education program begins with our Christ-centered liberal arts (general education) core curriculum, where you develop an understanding and appreciation of God and His creation, human creativity and reason, and our place of responsibility as stewards in the world God has made. As you forge links between what you've learned in the core and the more specialized courses in your major, our hope is that you also begin to relate all that you learn to your life and your faith.
The Road to Mastery
Within the elementary education program itself, you won't have to wait until you graduate and land a job to understand what it takes to be a teacher. Teaching is a hands-on ministry, and Southeastern believes that allowing you to practice the craft in real classrooms through ongoing field studies is the best way to prepare you to manage, teach and assess learners of different ages and learning styles. At Southeastern, you also will have the opportunity to complete the culmination of the program-your student teaching-in a local classroom.
Southeastern University College of Education Graduate Programs
Educators seeking God's direction for the next phase of their career will find numerous graduate opportunities through our College of Education (COE). All our graduate programs are regionally accredited - Southeastern University (SEU) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). If you need additional Florida Certifications we have FLDOE State-Approved programs, or if you just need some additional coursework at the graduate level to upgrade or renew your Florida State Certification our courses will fulfill those requirements (you must apply and check with the FLDOE to obtain your personal list of specific courses needed to obtain/renew your certificate). Courses are offered in several face-to-face and online delivery formats. Our Teaching and Learning graduate degree is offered completely online. Beginning fall of 2010, all the courses in the Elementary Education and Educational Leadership graduate programs will also be offered in an online 8-week format to better allow you the ability to advance your education while maintaining your current career and family life. While the various programs are in-depth and rigorous, the flexibility of the online delivery format allows you to schedule your studies around your life.
