Accreditation: K-12 Schools

FLOCS accreditation is recognized nationally through the Association of Christian Teachers and Schools (ACTS) and an affiliation with the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA). Additionally, according to the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA), a senior high school or middle/junior high school located in the state of Florida may become a member if the school is accredited by an agency approved by the FHSAA. The Florida League of Christian Schools is an approved accrediting agency recognized by the FHSAA. The self-evaluation and accreditation process must be maintained on a periodic basis to ensure a school's adherence to its stated responsibilities and purposes and to the FLOCS Standards.

Typically, schools spend approximately two years preparing the self-study for an on-site FLOCS evaluation visit. Schools are visited every five years by an evaluation team appointed by the FLOCS office. Evaluators from other Christian schools spend three to four days on the campus during which time they review the school's self-evaluation report, supporting documentation, and published curricula. Interviews with representatives of all constituent groups, classroom visits, and observations of campus life provide the team with background information needed to prepare the visiting team report of commendations and recommendations.

The visiting team's report is presented to the FLOCS board which makes a recommendation on accreditation to the ACTS Executive Board. The ACTS Board makes the final decision regarding accreditation. A school may be granted full accreditation, conditional accreditation, or denied accreditation.
